Medication

Asthma inhalers and Epipens will be kept in school to be used as required.  Staff will have regular training in the use of Epipens, and staff made aware of pupils currently on roll who may require such treatment.

All prescribed medication must be handed in to the school office where it is kept in a labelled, locked cupboard or in a fridge.  We will only administer medicine that has to be taken 4 times a day, parents will be required to sign a disclaimer form, acknowledging that the school does not accept liability for failing to give the medication, administering the wrong medication or giving an incorrect dose.  We will however, do our very best to ensure that instructions are followed.  Parents may, of course, come to the school at lunchtime to administer the medication themselves.  A written record is kept of all medication administered.

In exceptional circumstances we can administer paracetamol for children at lunchtime who have a mild cold or virus.  Medicines are restricted to liquid or tablet form and must be clearly labelled with your child's name and class.

Medicines are usually administered either just before or just after lunch.

All medication will require a completed administration of medicine form, including paracetamol, available below or from the academy office.
