What a busy fortnight, we started by taking 48 Year 5 & 6 children to Town Sports at William Parker. The children competed in various jumping, throwing and running events and came forth. It was great to see the children enjoying their sport and standing on the podium as they collected their bronze, silver and gold medals.
The following Monday Mr McGowan and myself took a girls and boys team to the Sierra Leone football tournament at St Leonards Academy. Both teams played 4 games. The boys managed to win their first and narrowly missed out on the others. The girls team managed to win 1 game and draw the other 3. They also kept clean sheets in all 4 matches. Both teams represented the school extremely well.
Tuesday saw our own sports day. Years 1 - 3 performed in the morning and Years 4 - 6 in the afternoon. The effort that was put in by all children despite the warm weather was amazing and the winners are... to be announced in Worship on Monday!
I would just like to thank all the adults that came along to support the day, I know that the children as well as the staff really appreciate it. Also thanks to the fabulous Year 6 pupils who scored the events during the morning and Mrs Bennett and her Year 11 sports leaders who helped in the afternoon.
Then on Wednesday Mr McGowan took a mixed football team up to Crawley to represent Hastings and Rother at the school games. The team played well against some very tall children from other areas and came a great 4th position. Well done.
Finally, I have had quite a few ABC cards in from children across the school and will be distributing stickers, gold coins and certificates at the beginning of next week. We now have 40 children who have completed at least a card. It would be great to hit 100 by the end of next week so keep trying and collecting your points on Beat the Streets.
