Consultation for Proposed Changes to School Day - Sept 23

PROPOSED CHANGES TO SCHOOL DAY – SEPTEMBER 2023

Overview

St Paul’s CE Academy and the Diocese of Chichester Academy Trust (DCAT) would like to obtain your views on its proposed changes to the timings of the school day from September 2023.

A Summary of the Consultation

This change of school day timings is a direct response to the Government's expectation that schools are open for 32.5 hours per week. https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/length-of-the-school-week-minimum-expectation

We wish to extend the school day so that whilst children will continue to start the school day at 8:40am, all children from Reception to Year 6 will end at the new time of 3:10pm. At present, children in Reception finish at 3:00pm and children in Years 1-4 finish at 3:05pm. Should the changes be approved, they will come into force from September 2023.

We would ask that if you wish to respond to this consultation, even if you support the arrangements, by completing your feedback on the following link

Responses to the consultation will be collated and discussed. The consultation runs for a 6-week period, from 8th November 2022 – 19th December 2022.
