This term our topic is War of the Worlds, we will be using this as an inspiration for our learning across the curriculum. The book in particular will drive our writing giving the children the opportunity to write with purpose across a range of genres. The culmination of this focus will be a newspaper day when the children will produce their own newspaper.
Our focus this term in science will be electricity. The children will learn about circuits and how to use them. The skills learnt in these lessons will be applied in a DT project. The children will create a decoration using the understanding they have developed in their science lessons.
In ICT we will be developing the children’s understanding of coding. The children will work through a series of lessons with a goal of creating their own simple game.
In geography the children will be learning about the planets changing climate by conducting enquiry led investigations. They will look at case studies from Africa, Australia and Greenland. The children will consider how climate change has changed the lives of ordinary people and the different perspectives people have on these changes.
You can support your child at home by reading with them at least four times weekly, practising any spellings that are sent home and helping them to complete any other tasks set.
If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact your child’s class teacher.
