Year 5 blurb Term 3
In History we will be studying the Anglo-Saxons and Vikings.
This term in Science we will be looking at ‘Animals including Humans’. We will be learning about the changes that occur as humans develop to old age from a scientific perspective. Children will be creating posters and timelines to explain their understanding of the human life cycle and the changes that happen throughout, and comparing these to animals.
In English, we are very much looking forward to studying the novel Skellig by David Almond with our classes.
In Maths, we will be focusing on multiplication, division and fractions.
For French, we will be looking at and learning the words for the weather and seasons.
PE – our focus will be gymnastics in 5SW as well as maintaining our fitness levels. 5JM and 5BK will be swimming on Fridays in Terms3 and 4.
PSHE sessions will focus on the children’s ‘dreams and goals’ alongside an RSHE lesson and, some All Sorts sessions around human rights.
Homework will be in the form of a sheet of twelve activities. We ask that the children complete two activites a week and that an adult signs the sheet when each activity is completed.
Please see our Term 3 curriculum newsletter for further curriculum information.
Please ensure reading planners are up to date and that children read at least 4 times a week. Can we also remind you that your child should complete the weekly writing task found in their planners.
