This term our topic is National Parks, we will be using this as an inspiration for our learning across the curriculum. In English this term we will be writing a range of genres using our topic as a stimulus. We will also be writing a non-chronological report based on an imaginary animal generated in our science topic. Also we will produce a balanced argument.
Our focus this term in science will be classification. The children will learn about the history of the classification system and how it helps scientific understanding of eco systems. The skills learnt in these lessons will be applied to classify a range of animals during the term.
In ICT we will be developing the children’s understanding of multi -media presentations. The children will learn to hyperlink, add animation and sound clips to presentations. This will culminate in the children creating their own presentation about Britain’s National Parks.
In geography the children will be learning about National Parks. They will learn why they were created and what their purpose now is. They will use map skills to locate and identify physical features found in the parks.
You can support your child at home by reading with them at least four times weekly, practising any spellings that are sent home and helping them to complete any other tasks set.
