Term 4

Term 4

Welcome back to Term 4! We hope you’ve all had a safe and well rested break.

This term our topic will be ‘Let’s pack a suitcase!’’

We will be exploring the continent of Africa whilst learning about:

  • The Big 5 (Lion, Elephant, Leopard, Buffalo, Rhino)
  • Nelson Mandela
  • Handa’s Surprise – native fruits
  • Meerkat Mail – Journey through multiple countries
  • Ghanaian Goldilocks – making comparisons with the English version of Goldilocks

In Phonics, we will continue learning our Phase 2 sounds and the actions to go with them! The children are really enjoying learning a new sound every day and are beginning to apply these in their writing.  Whilst communicating and sharing stories, we will also be listening out for new vocabulary we’ve learnt in class.

As Mathematicians, we will continue our journey through ‘growing 9 and 10’. We will also explore 3D shapes, patterns and movement patterns.

We are very excited to be taking a trip through the ‘deep dark wood’ of Bedgebury Pinetum. We will be encouraging the children to look at their environment and think about what they can see, hear, smell and touch. During this trip we will endeavour to find the purple-prickled and orange eyed Gruffalo!

Within Science week, our focus is growing, both how we have grown and the changes of plants from seeds, to seedlings, to plants.

Please keep an eye on the School Gateway and Class Dojo for information regarding our busy daily lives here at St Paul’s Academy.

As always, please contact us through class Dojo with any questions or concerns. We love celebrating your child’s successes and achievements too, so please don’t forget to share any news, learning or fun on your child’s Class Dojo portfolio!

We look forward to another half term full of learning and fun!
