We are excited about another fun filled year of learning in Year 4. We are starting by looking at a classic from Roald Dahl ‘Charlie and the Chocolate Factory’. We will be taking a close look at the characters in the story and creating our own new character who claims the 6th Golden Ticket.
By the end of Year 4, all children are expected to know their times tables up to 12 X 12. Please encourage and support them to learn and recite them with confidence. Your child will have been given a My Maths account and all tables are waiting for you to challenge yourself there.
Please ensure that your child brings their planner into school every day as it contains useful learning aids to support their learning. We would request that you read with your child 3 times a week and record this in your planner.
There is also a writing task for your child to complete on a weekly basis. Please support them in doing this, if you can.
We are fortunate that this year Miss Watson will be teaching our classes who to play the recorder and hopefully we will perform for you later this year.
Finally, Thursday will be our PE day so please can you ensure your child has a full PE kit on that day. This includes trainers that fit, long sleeves for cooler days and socks to change into for the sessions.
If you have any questions about your child’s learning or ideas for moving them on then please do not hesitate to contact us on the addresses below.
